Description
The mission of Daktari is to educate underprivileged children to care for their environment through the medium of a wildlife orphanage.

It is common for local school classes to be larger than 60 pupils. As a consequence, the basic education of these children is suffering, and this has serious implications for the surrounding environment as well as their future.

DAKTARI offers them the unique chance of getting a hands on experience with the animals that surround them but never get a chance to even see. Poachers are everywhere in the local villages so that is why it is critical that DAKTARI helps change the mindsets so the environment is preserved for future generations

Each week DAKTARI welcomes a new group of 8 local children who stay for 5 days and are inspired through interaction with volunteers and wild animals. These children arrive timed and shy, but by the end of the week they walk out smiling, laughing and enthusiastic about protecting the environment.

Company description
Want a life changing experience helping underprivileged children and orphaned wild animals in Africa?
Breath taking scenery, African sunsets with all the colours of the rainbow. The noise and hustle and bustle of the world are no where to be found. The only sounds to grace your ears are the cries of the wonderous fish eagle and the powerful roar of the majestic leopard. And this is just the splendid place where you will be staying! Imagine the fullfillment you will feel from changing the lives of animals, of children and your own!
DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage is a registered non-profit organisation located on the outskirts of the world famous the Kruger Park in South Africa. DAKTARI provides volunteers with the unique opportunity of not only caring for some of South Africa’s most iconic species, but also of inspiring a generation of underprivileged schoolchildren to become passionate about wildlife conservation.
You will be doing something meaningful in your life while having an absolute fantastic experience. It’s a Win-Win situation for everyone involved. You will play a vital role in the successful implementation of their education curriculum, with more focus on topics such as anti-poaching, wildlife, private game reserves, ecosystems and tourism.
You will spend your days experiencing the bush, helping the animals in need while educating the children of Africa. You will spend your nights playing games, getting involved with social talks and sitting around the bonfire enjoying the company of volunteers from all over the world as you stare into the starriest skies that you have ever seen! What are you waiting for? Come join us and help change the world!
Our offer is for all people who want to make the world a better place and are interested in helping others. You just need to have a decent level of English and be older that 18 years old, unless coming with a guardian.
