Company description
The company name, Welwyn, originates from a town in Hertfordshire, England. Welwyn Garden City, as its name suggests, is one of the first garden cities, founded by Sir Ebenezer Howard in the 1920’s. Howard had called for the creation of new towns - of limited size, planned in advance and surrounded by a permanent belt of agricultural land - as a role model for lower-density urban development. Howard believed that such Garden Cities were the perfect blend of city and nature. We believe that in order to succeed, all planning and environmental projects must evolve in the context of a broad spectrum of economic, social and physical considerations. Planning that doesn’t take achievability into account is of little value to the client. Therefore, we approach all projects with recognition of the diverse factors that are necessary for success, and keen understanding of the ecological, physical, social and political considerations that affect each project.
