Company description
The name Shondoro was chosen from one of the Afrikaans author, Doc Immelman's short stories which tells the tale of an orphaned kudu who is reared by an Afrikaans family on a Namibian farm. The significance of the story is very special to the owners as Doc Immelman is the late father and grandfather of the family who owns Shondoro.
The Reedbuck Family cottage consist of 2 bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and single bed and en-suite bathroom (shower) and the second room has 2 3/4 beds and en-suit bathroom (shower). There is a fully equipped 'outside' kitchen and a braai boma.
The Bushbuck and Klipspringer cottages consist of a double and 3/4 bed each in one bedroom with en-suite (shower). The little outside kitchens are also fully equipped and each cottage has a private boma.
The communal pool area has a braai area and groups can be accommodated here upon special request. We offer mountain biking and walking trails, outstanding opportunity for bird watching and tree spotting as well as game watching. Guided birding weekends and tree identification courses can be arranged on request.
The surrounding area is rich in history. "The Waterberg Meander route starts here, at the most common entrance to the Waterberg plateau - the Sandrivierspoort, one of only five natural gateways into the hinterland from the south or east, the others being Bakkers Pass to the west, Tarentaalstraat in the south and the Bokpoort and Kloof Passes in the east.
Stretching to the west is the iconic view of the "Seven Sisters"‚ one of the most photographed and painted images in the Waterberg. In reality there are many more sisters - buttresses of the Waterberg massif rising from the flat basin outside the southern escarpment. Here the journey of exploration begins.
