B&BAfrican Shades is a unique bed & breakfast located in the beautiful, historic town of Swellendam. Situated on the main road, right across from the Drostdy Museum, it is the perfect location from where to explore the town. Expect a warm welcome, clean, spacious rooms, super comfortable beds and luxurious cotton percale linen. We offer six en-suite rooms (four twin rooms, one family cottage and one luxury King-size room). All our rooms are located away from the main road, have separate entrances and private patios. Our swimming pool has stunning mountain views and offers welcome relief for those hot, summer days. In the morning we serve a full breakfast, either on the restaurant's garden terrace in summer or inside the restaurant by the fireplace in winter. African Shades is the only 3 star graded Bed & Breakfast in Swellendam with the AA Superior grading.Arts & CraftsAt African Shades, we offer the best of modern and traditional South African crafts and designs. Hand painted ethnic wall hangings and table cloths, glass and beaded jewellery, recycled metal sculptures and African embroidery to name but a few of the beautiful items in our shop. With excellent product knowledge we insure that your experience in our Arts & Crafts shop will be memorable.
