Description
The de la Hunt family has been making clay bricks near Stellenbosch in the Western Cape for almost four decades. Pioneered by Garnet de la Hunt, Joostenberg Brick began supplying the local building industry with its quality clay bricks in 1970.

Today, retaining a predominant focus on brickmaking, we contribute directly to the employment of 250 people and the buoyancy and growth of the Western Cape construction sector. Garnet and Julian continue to advance and expand on their successes in efficiency and improvement of our production methods, enabling us to deliver greater volumes and consistent, reliable quality to our loyal customers. His son, Julian de la Hunt, came on board in 1987 to manage the development of the Claytile brand at a second site nearby, which has produced further innovative brick, natural tile and other clay masonry products. Impassioned by the advantages, richness and beauty of natural clay, the de la Hunts have explored, researched and developed a range of exciting technologies to allow for the production of a diverse collection of clay products.
