The fully equipped cottage has twin beds, en suite bathroom with shower, comfortable lounge with TV and a kitchenette that opens to a large entertainment patio and braai area. The estuary is two minutes walk away via private access. The area is quiet: birds and tortoises live in the garden. Books and magazines are available for guests for those lazy days. No 7 On The Island has two canoes and a dinghy / rowboat for guests to use at their own risk. The Island itself is ideal for walking or cycling as it is largely flat. The Village supports a very active cycling fraternity. Breakfast can be served on request. The water skiing zone is downstream near the river mouth or a larger and deeper zone across the N2 in Swartvlei itself. The river mouth and three unspoilt and undeveloped beaches are five minutes away. The estuary supports a varied ecosystem of sea water fish, seahorses, sand mussels, sand prawns and water birds. It provides residents and guests with safe swimming, exciting fishing, canoeing, windsurfing and glorious sunsets. Sedgefield is the hidden jewel of the Garden Route and The Island is a registered Cape Nature Conservancy, home to breeding reptile populations and a wide variety of birds. Birding tours and hiking trips can be arranged and a numerous adventure and leisure activities are available. Art and mosaic courses are available and guests can take lessons with one of South Africa¿s top potters, Lesley Ann Hoets. The area is sited in the midst of golf courses of varying challenges, from Mossel Bay to Plettenberg Bay. There is a sociable Mashie Course at Fynboskruin on the nearby road to Swartvlei beach, three minutes by car and another beside the Goukamma river ten minutes away. Sedgefield town is five minutes away by car or fifteen minutes walk which can be along the river bank most of the way.
