Theron`s Meat Products in Pretoria West is a family-run business specialising in manufacturing value-added meat products. The success of this family-run business can be attributed to the passion this husband and wife team have for people and good food.The Theron family have been manufacturing quality meat products at affordable prices for the past 29 years.What makes this business unique is that the owner, Mr Dawie Theron, decided to make Theron`s meat products available at real factory prices directly to the public.This decision was made following requests from the public and entrepreneurs wanting to use Theron’s meat products as a vehicle to financial freedom.In November 2009, a new factory shop of world-class standard opened in Mitchell Street (now Charlotte Maxeke Street) and is already a landmark in Pretoria West.All our products are wood-smoked and we only use the best raw products and ingredients sourced from Europe.

Company description
Theron`s Meat Products was founded in 1983 by the family Theron. The business started out as a small processed meat manufacturing plant. This small factory supplied the butcheries that was part of the Theron`s legacy, started in the early 1950`s by Dawie`s grandfather.Since the age of 13 years he was up at 04h00 in the morning during school holidays to work alongside his friends in the butchery. During this period of time Dawie became a master of sosatie making, carying parcels for customers, packing products and cleaning the work stations.Dawie decided to work in his father`s butchery until he could decide what the course of his life would be. Dawie not only worked in the butchery as block man, he also gained valuable experience in the wholesale part of the business, where he was responsible for the buying of meat at local abattoirs as it was still the custom to go to the abattoir and bid on carcasses.This training paved the way for future success in Dawie`s unusual ability to pick the best meat and raw products for manufacturing of the quality products Theron`s are known for today.Dawie enrolled at The Pretoria Technicon and studied for his diploma in business management and graduated in 1986. Dawie worked in the wholesale business up until 1991. At this stage Dawie`s opportunity to own his own business presented itself. The processed meat factory was not turning a profit at the time, and Dawie grabbed the opportunity to take over the management.In the early year`s Dawie was the manager, secretary, bookkeeper and sales representative all in one.In 1995 the public was welcomed into the business to buy at wholesale prices. Dawie is very proud of the fact that he still sells his quality products at real factory prices.In the year 2009 Dawie acquired the property next to the existing factory and set out to build a new facility for the factory that will be on the best of international standards.
