Our philosophy is to use only the best leather available to us and nothing less. This means we will exclusively use full-grain leathers, with all the natural marks and blemishes of the animal. This will ensure a life time on your leather without the “cracking” or “peeling” associated with heavily processed leathers.Most leathers undergo a complex treatment processes in order to create numerous products. This will result in weaker leather that will not wear as well. Full-grain leather is the toughest and most durable.
Choose from a wide range of leathers including bovine, kudu, gemsbok, eeland and ostrich leathers. We will do our upmost to source any exotic leathers from the tanneries that supply us.

Gates to Africa has showrooms in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein supplying leather sofas and furniture designed, developed and manufactured in our own factories in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. A scientific approach to sofa manufacture has led to a number of groundbreaking innovations in frame design and cushioning, and has kept us at the forefront with regard to quality and comfort in particular.
Leather is sourced from the most reputable tanneries in Southern Africa. In keeping with our “no compromise” approach to quality, we insist on using only full grain leather, ensuring a lifespan upwards of 25 years without the cracking and peeling associated with the deterioration of corrected grain and bi-cast leather.
The continuous interaction between clients and our designers provides valuable feedback and is an added dimension in our ongoing commitment to produce the “Rolls Royce” of leather couches.
