Golf courses, horse-riding, game drives, mountain bike trails, beaches, restaurants & shops are all just a ten-minute drive away. Each room has barbecue facilities for guests who'd like to cook their own dinner next to the river - alternatively we can recommend good restaurants, make dinner bookings & organise a taxi if required. The lodge is situated on the Bitou River, 220 km from Port Elizabeth, 530km from Cape Town and 100km from George. There are many forest and coastal hiking trails in the area varying in distance. Mountain biking and horse riding are popular and there are numerous forest trails. The bay encompasses a rare richness of marine life making it ideal for diving and snorkeling. There are great opportunities for freshwater and seawater fishing. Canoes can be provided. Vast schools of playful dolphins are often seen frolicking in the warm waters. And every season sees various species of whales returning to these shores. Whale watching season from June to November. Quality golf courses amidst beautiful natural surroundings are only minutes away. Owners Paul and Sue Scheepers look forward to meeting you at Bitou River Lodge!
