Distell serves on the steering committee of the Liquor Manufacturers’ and Distributors’ Charter and is represented on all its working groups, reviewing the entire manufacturing and distribution chain, from ownership and management to employee equity and skills development, procurement practices, enterprise development, as well as a number initiatives in public health and social investment. Environmental management is another key focus area where Distell undertakes to comply with all relevant legislation, reduce the impact of its production processes on the environment and prevent pollution by using best practices and technologies.
The Distell spirit portfolio consists of premium and super premium brandies, white spirits, gins, whiskies and liqueurs. Some well known, award winning labels such as Amarula Cream, Van Ryn’s Collection, Klipdrift, Oude Meester and Mainstay (to name but a few) make up the spirit selection. Apart from the large portfolio of brands which are wholly-owned, the company also act as marketing and distribution agent of certain other brands on behalf of external parties.
Distell's wine portfolio boasts a wide spread of brands, including some of South Africa's best-loved labels: Tassenberg and Chateau Libertas, and award-winning brands such as Durbanville Hills, Nederburg and Fleur du Cap to name but a few.
Distell also presides over the marketing and sales of a number of boutique wine cellars, some of which are wholly-owned, some part-owned and some for whom Distell merely markets their wines.
