Description
Western Joiners was started by Mr A. Kretschmer, who immigrated here from West Germany in 1951. Mr Ketschmer first worked as foreman for Protea Timber, from 1951 untill June of 1957, when he began Westelike Srynwerker (Western Joiners), specializing in joinery and woodworking.
The beginnings were humble, with a staff of four workers, he started the company in the Western Wools building, where they did general joinery work and cupboards for the provincial administration, schools and hospitals.

Company description
By 1966 the business had grown, and moved premises to the piano factory where they rented space. This period didnt last long, and with ± 25 people working in the company, the space was not enough. The new premises was then built by Mr Dekkers in Versailes street, Wellington.
On the 1st of July 1983, J.J. Dempers Pty Ltd took over the factory, and they then moved to the current premises in Ambachtsvallei street, Hugenot, Paarl. Johan and Philip Dempers kept the trading name, and today Western Joiners is well known throughout the Western Cape for its excellent quality craftsmanship, joinery, woodworking and production in doors, cupboards, windows and gates.
