I am a Clinical Psychologist practising in the Northern Suburbs. I work from an integrative approach grounded in psychoanalysis, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy and child-parent relationship therapy. An integrative approach focuses on each client’s individual needs and strengths. Therefore, therapy starts with an assessment session where I collaborate with the client to tailor the treatment approach and therapeutic intervention to each client’s concerns.
Previous experience includes working with applied behaviour analysis in the intervention with children with special needs. Assessment, long and short term therapy with children, adolescents and adults at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University community clinic. Mental status examination, assessment, medium and short term therapy, group therapy and working with a multi-disciplinary team at Elizabeth Donkin, a psychiatric hospital in Port Elizabeth. Crisis intervention and trauma counselling at Livingston Hospital. Assessment, long and short term therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, group program development and risk evaluation at Brandvlei Correctional Services.
My areas of special interest include working with children, adolescents and adults with autism and other pervasive developmental disorders, childhood and adolescent disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders and anxiety disorders. As well as working with the families of those affected and diagnosed with psychiatric disorders.
