Adley House is 100 years old (1905 - 2005). Built in 1905 by Sidney Herbert Adley during the ostrich feather "boom" period, this magnificent Victorian sandstone mansion was bought by Pieter and Hilda Retief in 1990 and restored to its former glory.

In 1994 Hilda started a B&B with 2 rooms. Adley House, because of its popularity, now has 14 rooms and has become a 4 star Guest House with all the necessary amenities - a retreat for you to enjoy.

Fourteen large en-suite individually decorated rooms to make your stay a pleasant one. All rooms offer modern, quiet remote controlled air-conditioners, remote controlled channel TV, fully stocked fridges, tea and coffee trays, overhead fans and electric blankets, telephones and fax facilities. There is also a daily laundry service available. Pieter and Hilda are true South Africans, have lived in Oudtshoorn for 40 years and manage Adley House personally - will be able to give you all the info you require about our town and the surrounding area. Hilda is known worldwide for her excellent South African breakfast with freshly baked rolls or vetkoek every morning. In the evening, on request, we may braai (barbecue) or you can have a four course meal - real South African style. Ostrich steaks are our speciality!
