With mining capacity increased, Wescoal has life of mine for 12 – 15 yearsThe strategic intent of the division is to produce the bulk of the Group’s profit growth into the future. In the year under review, the results for the Mining Division emanate solely from the Khanyisa Colliery, which due to the extension of the mining plan, now includes underground mining activity which previously was limited to open cast mining only. The extension into underground mining will add an additional 12 – 18 months to the life of mine at Khanyisa. In April 2013, post the financial year end, Intibane Colliery was added to the Execs portfolio of mines. In the 2013 financial year, Execs successfully produced 1.31 million tons of coal.
