Freestyle
Freestyle is an energetic, fast paced style of dance incorporating acrobatics, high kicks, spins and fast paced combinations done in pair, solo's, trios or teams and ages varies from 4 years to adult. Danced to the latest music often incorporating moves seen on the music videos. Highly competitive with competitions being held all over the world and South Africans regularly do extremely well. Medal grades as well as competitions available to be danced.
Ballroom
Ballroom includes the Waltz, Tango, Viennese waltz, Foxtrot and the Quickstep. With each dance having its own distinctive moves. The Waltz being sentimental and a romantic dance. Tango is a very emotional dance and this should be conveyed. The Viennese Waltz known for its rotational movement, which is simple and elegant. The Foxtrot being a very smooth dance, no jerkiness allowed. And finally the Quickstep with the characteristic motion is an up-and-down swing motion.
Latin-American
Latin-American includes the following dances: Samba, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble and the Jive. Once again each dance has its own distinctive moves. The Samba which has a distinctive climax, it ends with throwing of heads back and arms splayed out to the side. The Cha Cha has dancers who synchronize movements, working in parallel with each other. The Rumba should portray romance and therefore have a good interplay between dancers. In Paso Doble the man uses the woman as the cape to bring her around. And finally the Jive where your toes should always be pointed to the ground when kicking.
Hustle
Hustle originated in the American Disco techs. danced with a partner, it involves a lot of technique and currently also included in our Medal grade system.
Rock 'n Roll
Rock 'n Roll has survived over many decades. Rock 'n Roll has structured techniques. Authentic style of Rock 'n Roll and includes lots of lifts and tricks. Also currently included in our Medal grade system.
