I am an artist, fabric designer and mother. I live and work in Howick which is located at the heart of the stunningly beautiful KwaZulu-Natal Midlands here on the eastern seaboard of Southern Africa.

Caressed by gentle showers or pummeled by thunderstorms of immense power, the Midlands is forever partly shrouded in wreaths of mist peculiar to life at 1000 m. We are but a stone’s throw from the edge of the escarpment and mist billows up along the precipitous cliffs to form pillars of fire when bathed in the red light of dawn. It is nothing less than beautiful, and when the lilies bloom in the spring or the azaleas splash their crimson and lilac along the highways and byways, it is time to paint flowers and springing life. As the year advances, so too does my painting, with the animals in the local game reserve calling to the wildlife artist in me. The thorntrees are verdant, the zebra foals and blesbok kids gambol after their mothers and the young wildebeest gallop around in that particularly daft way of theirs.Summer is hot and humid, with cumulo-nimbus clouds towering into the azure sky and promises of fearsome thunderstorms to drench the red earth and send the dogs cowering behind the couch. Come autumn and the grass takes on that tawny brown so typical of the African savannah, and then comes the first icy blasts of winter, frost and log fires burning in the grate.
