The airbag seam for any vehicle with a front seat airbag is sewn with a special-purpose Durrkop Adler AD sewing machine. This machine is only used for airbag seams. The thread is specially manufactured for airbag seams. The machine monitors the stitch lenght and tension of every stitch. This machine was set up for the seam to break if the airbag deploys. A permanent record is kept of every seam sewn. The machine then issues a barcode (which is sewn into the seam) when all specified conditions have been met.
