The ONEwellness concept was developed by managing director and shareholder of Queensgate Wellness Holdings, Rob Cowling, who brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the Health & Fitness industry. He was part of the launch team of the Sport Science Institute of South Africa, and was scientific advisor to Health & Racquet/Virgin Active for ten years. He was the driving force behind the AltiraSPA at both the Western Cape Hotel & Spa and the ArabellaSheraton Grand Hotel in Cape Town, both of which he operated under a management contract through his company ProHealth Consulting. Cowling was part of the international team that established the AltiraSPA brand in Europe for the Arabella group, after this in 2003, he played a key role in establishing the success of the SANte Spa & Wellness Centres as Chief Operating Officer.
