The house itself is a characterful Victorian building which dates from 1894 and has undergone many changes in its life-span; it has done service as the townhouse of a Victorian gentleman, A. Hanslow Esq., a family home, a bordello in the 1940''s and a fabric emporium. After all these changes of character, the house has at last become a wonderfully warm home with new secrets to unfold at every turn. It is filled with that lovely, generous "make yourself at home" feeling which you will find only in homes loved and cared for by devoted owners.

Liberty Lodge is ideally situated for both the holiday and business traveller. Only 20 minutes by car from the Airport, it is located in a vibrant part of Cape Town, within safe and easy walking distance of Kloof Street, where a good selection of restaurants, cafes, bars and designer shops can be found. Liberty Lodge is only 2km. from Table Mountain and Lions Head. The world famous V&A Waterfront (the Gateway to Robben Island) and the beautiful beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton are under 10 minutes drive away. The city centre, business district and Cape Town International Convention Centre are a 20 minute stroll away. Both the Winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and the Cape of Good Hope are within easy driving distance. There are four en-suite bedrooms named after important figures associated with our history - Kipling, Ghandi, Madiba (i.e. Nelson Mandela) and Rhodes. Each is decorated in an individual, slightly theatrical style and there is great attention to detail. All rooms are well equipped, with telephone, TV with M-Net, Wi-Fi ADSL internet access, wall safe, fans, heaters, air-conditioning, hairdryer and alarm clock. Beds are dressed with pure cotton percale linen and each room is en-suite with shower (one is equipped with a shower over the bath). There are both double and king-size beds available and rooms can be converted to twin single bed facilities when required The upstairs rooms have access to a broad terrace with spectacular views over the city and towards Table Mountain Breakfast ¿ a sumptuous feast ¿ is served either in the peaceful courtyard or in the charming dining room by Lisa, who has been associated with the Lodge for 12 years, and her colleague, Nita. On arrival, guests are welcomed with an orientation to the city and surrounds and given a useful folder with masses of information to help them get started with their discovery of our city.
