Deborah has a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Biochemistry followed by a Bachelor of Science (Medical) (Honours) in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Cape Town. She worked in a rural hospital in Mpumalanga before returning to Cape Town to run a private practice in Plumstead.
