Description
Jean Pierre Cristofoli has established a small factory in Cape Town which has enabled him to manufacture precast terrazzo (for counter tops, vanities and a variety of other surfaces including handcrafted tables, planters, copings etc.) in addition to flooring, which is produced on site.
Our forte is the ability to manufacture customised designs made to the clients specifications.
Despite a few innovations, relating to colour and materials available, the Cristofoli family have continued to practice the craft in accordance with the original ancient traditions, which have endured the trials of time in buildings throughout Europe over centuries.
The Cristofoli family has been involved in the creation of terrazzo and mosaic products for generations. Oswaldo Antonio Cristofoli was a scholar at the well known Mosaic and Terrazzo School in Spilimbergo in Northern Italy.

Company description
Terrazzo has been used over centuries to provide durable and aesthetically pleasing surfaces. It can be found in homes, businesses, restaurants, hospitals, shopping centres, airports or wherever a combination of hard wearing and attractive materials are required.
Terrazzo is a nearly indestructible material made most commonly of crushed marble (or other materials) which is mixed with a binder that is then poured, ground, polished and sealed. Terrazzo is very long lasting and has been used for thousands of years in European buildings, and is so durable that it looks as good now as it did when the Terrazzo was installed.
It is used both indoors and out, for floors, walls, counter-tops, stairs, fountains and columns to name but a few applications - and is ideal for large high traffic areas where longevity and minimal maintenance is critical. There are limitless colour and design capabilities, which increase with the use of divider strips to enable the creation of virtually any design. Divider strips can be customised by shape or configurations, such as company logos, maps or school/club/society badges. With a variety of finishes to choose from, Terrazzo can be sleek and smooth or rustic and textured. Its flexibility enables it to be used also in renovation and remodeling, as the many colours and designs facilitate compatibility with many other materials - or existing designs.
Terrazzo is a centuries old art form highly sort after by today's architects, interior designers and building owners alike.
It's versatility and beauty is only paralled by its sustainability and easy maintenance. The appearance of Terrazzo improves with age! Terrazzo combines artistry with functionality, creating beautiful and durable surfaces in today's buildings that will become tomorrow's landmarks.
