CLAYTON HARRIS
Having completed school in 2003 at Pinetown Boys High, and not quite knowing which career I really wanted to pursue, I set out to travel in the United Kingdom on Working Holiday Visa, as every South African tended to do those days.
After having gained two years’ experience in the electrical field and a bit of travelling under my belt, my Work Visa was due to expire resulting in having to return back to South Africa. I signed up to study my N1-N3 courses as an Electrician on a part time basis (at my own expense) with Umbilo Tech . I then managed to complete my Wiremans Licence as an Installation Electrician, whilst working for Kloof Electrical where I managed to learn a great deal of what I know today.
So, as I have come to believe, electrical is an incredibly exciting and empowering subject being amongst one of the greatest professions in the world and the demand for a good Electrician is always high. Throughout my college years I was fortunate enough to have family and tutors around me who have been there to support me in my career goals. They have assisted me to make decisions that I am sure will have a positive and great effect on the rest of my life. I am confident that the education and personal experiences I have received to date have fully prepared me to take on the task of managing my own company. In my opinion being a successful Electrician/Businessman is all about imagination, creativity and tenacity to tackle unique problems. These are qualities that I believe I posses along with the required discipline, enthusiasm and willpower not to give up.
I have now moved to this beautiful city of Cape Town along with my girlfriend in search of a new adventure and hoping that one day my knowledge and success in the Electrical Industry can be passed down to a younger generation. For I know I still have a lot to learn but hope that my passion and desire will allow me to succeed in this challenging industry.
