Description
Wictra Holdings commenced business in 1996 when Wictra CC was established. At the time the vision was to provide the railway industry with an alternative local source of railway engineering expertise. Focusing on consultancy, various projects were executed in South Africa, Germany and Thailand.It soon became evident that the South African Railway Industry seriously lacked competition in the refurbishing of the rolling stock market segment. Repair procedures applied and materials used had virtually remained the same for over 20 years. In 1996 Wictra CC entered the refurbishment arena and successfully repaired 3 5M2A motor coaches and 8 plain trailer coaches during the first year for the then SARCC (SA Rail Commuter Corporation) now PRASA.
