Address:

Wolf’s Crag Farm, Southwell, . Bathurst District

Telephone:

Description
Wolf's Crag farm was named by the early British settlers who mistakenly thought the numerous hyenas in the area were a species of the wolf with which they were more familiar.

The original stone walled farm house was built circa 1844, and, during South Africa's ostrich boom about a century ago, extensive stone walls were built on the farm to protect the flightless birds from marauding hyena.

The Eastern Cape is a true nature-lover's paradise, from the lush Tsitsikamma forests to the rugged splendour of the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, the southern slopes of the mighty Drakensberg and the wide-open spaces of the arid Great Karoo. Fringed by 800km of pristine coastline, it is also malaria-free. The Sunshine Coast enjoys balmy summers, moderate winters and warm waters. The Addo National Elephant Park is the most concentrated elephant reserve in Africa and boasts the "Big Six" (the big five plus Great White shark). The varied interior is studded with historical towns and quaint villages, and Grahamstown hosts the world-renowned National Arts Festival, an annual attraction for thousands of performers and visitors. An exciting cultural melting-pot, the Eastern Cape is home to the Xhosa-speaking people of South Africa and home to some of its most famous citizens, including Nelson Mandela.
